Description
Senyokô La Tsarine Eau de Parfum is a sensual, intensely intimate perfume replete with animalic heat. This unique fragrance truly defines what a niche perfume is with the decadently musky scent pyramid reading like the contents of a royal curiosity cabinet: tuberose, cumin, papyrus, civet, costus and castoreum to name but a few. As the name implies, the perfume is inspired by Catherine the Great, one of the most fascinating rulers of Russia. Catherine’s diplomatic pursuits, intelligence and determination are well documented, as well as her boudoir conquests. Although her legacy is punctuated by fact and fiction, it is widely accepted that the Russian Empress’ love of glory was equal only to her love of men.
True to its inspiration, Senyokô La Tsarine Eau de Parfum is an elixir of aristocratic excess. The scent opens with a hedonistic hit of spicy cumin and earthy saffron mellowed by honeyed tones of exotic dried fruit. Bitter-sweet and peppery blackcurrant transitions into indolic jasmine – giving the fragrance a carnal quality. The senses are lured towards the potent aroma of skin on skin thanks to the ripe floral fragrance of the costus plant – a scent which recreates the erotic warmth of a lover nuzzling another. Subtle rubbery notes offer a hint of narcotic stimulation.
During drydown the intimate aromas of a midnight tryst become apparent. The air is thick with anticipation and desire as animalic base notes cast a persistent spell: castoreum and civit hint at musky bed sheets, while a musty papyrus note whispers the secretive intimacy of a forbidden chamber. The finish has an earthy sweetness thanks to warm woods, while oakmoss contributes to the carnal aroma of natural leather. Indulgent yet beautifully balanced, Senyokô’s La Tsarine is a conceptually bold and shockingly divisive fragrance.
This sensual fragrance was created by breakthrough nose in the niche perfume world, Euan McCall.
