Description
Senyokô Duo des Fleurs Eau de Parfum celebrates two of the world’s classic flowers – jasmine and rose. The niche perfume presents this traditional floral combination in a sensual and offbeat manner. The sensory unity of the pairing is a unique interplay of the strength and resilience, as well as the delicacy and longing associated with new love. The scent derives its inspiration and name from the famous aria in Léo Delibes’ opera, ‘Lakmé’, set in 19th Century India. Duo de Fleurs is perhaps the most famous duet in opera history and unfolds when Indian brahmin girl, Lakmé, picks flowers with her maid along a river. At this very spot Lakmé first meets British colonial officer, Gerald, and the ill-fated, cross-cultural romance begins. When Lakmé learns that her forbidden love must leave India for a new post, she eats a poisonous flower to prove her devotion and dies in Gerald’s arms.
Senyokô Duo des Fleurs perfume is richly floral and bears all the hallmarks of romantic delirium. Oriental top notes of red roses have a soft radiance as they caress the skin like a voluptuous purr of waxy petals. The delicate hum of white jasmine is bright yet sensual – just as the flower itself licks the evening air. This feminine floral pairing releases vaporous tendrils in an ethereal bouquet. This reimagines Lakmé’s nymph-like figure awaiting Gerald ‘where the white jasmine blends with the blood red roses’ beside the languid waters of a sacred spring. The sense of myth and legend is continued by the sweet and exotic fruitiness of davana, an aromatic herb prized since ancient Hindu times.
Senyoko Duo des Fleurs evokes the age-old process of distilling flowers in water as humid tropical rain connects molecules and brings the lovers into accord – rose and jasmine hang thick in a harmonious floral bouquet. Exotic base notes include mitti attar – an unctuous, loamy scented essential oil distilled from baked soil to replicate the lush scent of the first rains on dry earth. The offbeat drum of sandalwood adds a mild woody resonance to the humid earth base notes. The result is a mysterious floral filled tropical landscape. The orient is celebrated in all its aromatic brilliance; it is dense, wild and naturally beautiful.
