Description
Parfum D’Empire Tabac Tabou (Extrait de Parfum) is a perfume of sacred smoke, at once shamanic and penetrating. The faded tendrils of tobacco smoke, ignited by immortelle, weave around the luscious spray of narcissus. The scent of havana, slightly animalic honey, heated leather, wild grasses raw aromatic scents. Tabac Tabou is a tribute to a plant held sacred by the natives of the Americas.
Tobacco as the main fragrance note is offered by only few perfume houses. And although it seems to be a taboo, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the founder and perfumer of Parfum D’Empire, feels that the original use of tobacco is perfectly linked to sacred rituals and the origin of the perfume: per fum. Through the smoke.
So Serge Gainsbourg was right after all. God smokes Havana tobacco. Or rather the gods, spirits, shamans… Centuries before Columbus arrived, tobacco was used by almost all Native American tribes for smoke baths, healing or visions. This sacred plant, which is ritually smoked to feed the gods or to bring people’s prayers to them, has the same role in the New World as incense did in the Old: a link between earth and sky created by fire.
