Description
Parfum D’Empire Mal-Aimé (Eau de Parfum) is a refreshingly green aromatic perfume in praise of weeds. You see them everywhere, but you can’t smell them anywhere: no perfume celebrates them. Mal-Aimé is inspired by common plants that we call weeds because they are not desirable and which do not get much love from perfumers: weeds, nettles, blackberries or thistles. This iconoclastic perfume finally does them justice.
Coasts, hillsides, ravines and deserts. You can find them everywhere. They grow spontaneously, carefree, evergreen, untamed. People despise them as outsiders and outcasts, perhaps out of jealousy, perhaps because they ask nothing of anyone…
Mal-Aimé is a tribute by perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato to the plants banished from perfume bottles and from places of prominence. Unlike fine perfumes that rely only on noble ingredients, Mal-Aimé draws inspiration from a plant that is as common as it is rare in its essence. In fact, this is the first time it has been used in a perfume: the fragrant inula – known to botanists as Inula graveolens – grows throughout Corsica in tiny, tangle-like clusters of yellow flowers. Its essential oil, distilled from plants harvested from the bush and certified organic, is a real treasure trove for the perfumer. The emerald green essence unfolds wildly over hours.
Herbal? It’s the least you would expect by its very nature. But inula borrows its fragrance from rose and its sweetness from honey. Its scent is as sunny as the colour of its flowers, but also woody, salty and musky.
Around this beautiful rebel, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato brings together a whole host of unloved things to celebrate his native Corsica once again. Disconcerting, avant-garde, never-before-smelled… Noble, in its very nature. Undoubtedly innovative. A perfume like no other.
