Description
Parfum D’Empire Cuir Ottoman is a sensual and elegant oriental leather perfume, gently rubbed with powdered iris. The fragrance is warmed by labdanum and burnt styrax, before being bathed in an intoxicating base of tolu balsam, benzoin and incense drops. Egyptian jasmine brings opulence to the heart of the perfume, vanilla and tonka bean infuse it with tenderness.
Parfum D’Empire Cuir Ottoman is as soft as an afternoon in a Turkish bath. Although the leather note is much appreciated by perfume gourmands, it is sometimes so assertive that it rarely appears in perfumes. It is one of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato’s favourite notes, and he has based his personal interpretation on the smoky scent of burnt styrax and birch.
In the Ottoman Empire, the tradition of Anatolian leatherwork inspired the fragrance of Cuir Ottoman. Until the 19th century, Turkish leather was the most sought after in Europe. The powdery notes of iris were often used to soften the odor of the finest leathers.
In keeping with the theme, the harmony of iris and leather is infused with incense drops and benzoin, whose vanilla notes, along with labdanum, are the core of oriental perfumes. Tonka bean gives the fragrance a gourmand character, its tobacco aspect enhancing the leather accord and evoking the lazy smoke of hookah. At once light and dominant, it brings oriental elegance to every situation in life.
