Olympic Orchids Chevalier Vert Extrait de Parfum translates the ancient power of green herb and sweet leaf into an attention-grabbing perfume for the adventurous knights of today. The opening features peppy citrus and ripe rhubarb which offer a tangy-sweet counterpart to the perfume’s herbal green core. Chevalier Vert intertwines layers of tomato leaf, violet leaf and armoise to reveal a heady herbality that conjures notes of cannabis. These dreamy greens are given backbone by the woody spiciness of Sichuan pepper. There is a sense of mysterious masculinity at play.

Olympic Orchids Chevalier Vert was inspired by the “Green Knight” of Arthurian legend, a sort of ambivalently magical chivalrous hero intermixed with an ancient Celtic god, the “Green Man”. The perfume’s intricate tangle of verdant plant, leaf and stem recalls Aubrey Beardsley’s iconic art nouveau illustrations for Le Morte d’Arthur, chronicling King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The cool refinement of the drawings is perfectly reflected in orris root and delicate peony while pale, musky woods in the base keep their intriguing distance.

Blending Brythonic Celtic myth with a very British dandy aesthetic and a hint of the Glastonbury eccentric, Chevalier Vert is a complex green perfume of bitter-sweet fruits, herbs and woods for modern man – in all his fascinating contradictions.
