Description
Neandertal Light Eau de Parfum is an aromatic green niche perfume featuring fresh woods and metallic notes inspired by a snapshot in time. Despite the iron age associations, Neandertal Light is radiant and modern. The niche fragrance concentrates on the present and as such, possesses a linear and harmonious structure. The bright top note of hinoki is expanded with muted green tones of galbanum and violet leaf, creating a horizontal landscape which functions as an olfactory still-life representation of nature. The binding quality of precious orris root in the heart gives Neandertal Light rigidity, form and cohesiveness within the structure. This binding quality has an earthy energy which produces a solidifying effect on the scent – like the dull gleam of ancient metal ore. Leather and ambergris add unparalleled natural texture and familiarity, lending the scent an air of power and magnetism. A contemporary portrait of the Neandertal mystery, this fragrance allows us direct sensory connection with the archaic humans who, just like us, once roamed this ever evolving home we call earth.
Most of the natural ingredients used in Neandertal fragrances can be found across the regions of Eurasia, Western Europe, Central China, East and South-West Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean; areas now understood to have been active Neanderthal habitation zones. The oils suspended within the final fragrance are of the highest quality, be they natural, isolate or of synthetic origin. Recreating what is arguably humanity’s longest-used technological object, Neandertal fragrances come in unique stoneware containers which are individually slipcast from flint-napped axes before being vitrified at a temperature of over 1400°C. In the perfect marriage of the prehistoric with the postmodern, these objects are crafted using 3D laser scanning and printing technology to capture and record the chips, ripples and organic forms found in ancient flint-knapped axes.
The nose behind Neandertal Light Eau de Parfum is Chris Maurice (Nishane, Xerjoff).
