Milano Fragranze Naviglio Eau de Parfum is a modern niche cologne awash with Marseille soap and aquatic notes – the fresh choice for a man with a contemporary conscience. Naviglio is a perfumed nod to the quaint ‘Vicolo dei Lavandai’ (Washerman’s Alley) where residents of Milan’s ‘Navigli’ canal district came to do their laundry.

This squeaky clean scent is immaculately formed thanks to gleaming notes of bergamot, neroli and petitgrain which, however, do not attempt to mask a characteristic earthy Marseille soap accord. This perfect interplay between citrus notes and the pungent, dark dustiness of soap creates a rich, honest and naturally layered kind of cleanliness. There is a complexity to Naviglio which pays homage to the hard work, curved backs and rustic folk songs that went into keeping the white shirts of the rich pristine – luxury and labour side by side in true Italian artisan fashion.

The addictively moreish Marseille soap accord froths beautifully into the powdery white musks and foamy aquatic notes that feel invigoratingly fresh and airy. Naviglio is an ingenious mix of soap, suds and citrus and a fascinatingly unique tribute to the gurgling washeries of yore, that made men’s shirts spotless.
