Miguel Matos Dorapilia Extrait de Parfum is a bold leather fragrance inspired by the erotic opulence of fetish based sex. Miguel describes the concept of doraphilia as ‘sexuoerotic arousal and fetishistic fondness for the smell and feel of animal skin, fur, and leather’. Doraphilia certainly delivers on its name as it stampedes the senses with its sexual charge.

Miguel Matos Doraphilia’s opening is skin on skin action in perfume form. A pitch black leather note is redolent of ink and wax. Alongside the tannic civet notes, castoream breathes animalic life into the dark hide accord. The clever use of costus, a flower with strong bodily elements, hints at a dirty carnality. Doraphilia has the sexual resonance of a dominant master or cruel dominatrix. It smells like leather stretched and creaking, tantalizing the senses as it’s used to restrain and cause pain to its willing victims.

But, Doraphilia is not all hard-hitting animalics and strict BDSM. Powder puff facets of lilac and iris dust the air, referencing vintage French perfumery and lending a seductive softness to the harsh leather. Here Doraphilia’s plush texture is reminiscent of a classic fur coat. The velvety softness melding with the blossoming florals even shows signs of restraint and at the base, a classic soapy cleanliness emerges – reminding us that every leather-clad Dom has a caring side after all.
