Meo Fusciuni Narcotico Extrait de Parfum is a dark oriental woody perfume with prominent oud and patchouli facets which asks us to push beyond our olfactive borders. The niche fragrance is a celebratory exploration of the mystical aspects of human worship and opens with an almost unrecognisably deep and pungent incense note. The initial scent has the tannic mustiness of a sacred altar housing charms and idols to be worshipped, or a fisherman’s fly tying cabinet full of various furs, feathers, hooks, beeswax and twine – all sacrosanct in their own way. There is certainly something hallowed about Narcotico’s initial notes but it is a personal sacredness not a churchy one.

The heart is a distinctive blend of completely non-sweet incense and dark patchouli, giving the olfactive effect of a scent that is brooding and adult. What at first appears sinister and dark in Narcotico gradually reveals a deep and resinous warmth underneath. Oud’s animalic woodiness has a heat all its own, while resiny benzoin blends with notes of tonka and patchouli to create a cozy olfactory cradle for a scent that is almost narcotically addictive. Narcotico leaves perfume enthusiasts with two impressions. On one hand Narcotico feels medicinal thanks to its cleansing waxed resin and bitter herb notes. On the other hand it draws inspiration from the world of meditation thanks to the presence of pitch black, primordial incense. Whether you wear this daring perfume as a curative tincture or protective amulet, Narcotico certainly promises to fend off the physical ailments and spiritual curses that plague everyday life.

Meo Fusciuni Narcotico Extrait de Parfum was conceived on the steps of an ancient church in the city of Palermo and is the first of the house’s “Mystic Cycle”, inspired by the connection between fragrance and spiritual insight. The other scents in the Mystic Cycle include Odor 93 and L’oblio. Narcotico is a scent which ignites internal awakening, allowing us to travel from the here and now in search of deeper meaning. The ultimate destination, however, has always been within us, locked in our olfactory memory and waiting to be released with just the whiff of that one evocative smell – be it the sacred perfumed prayers of the ancient temples, or a childhood memory of our father’s fly tying cabinet.
