Mendittorosa Talento Extrait de Parfum opens with a fresh and striking bouquet of rose, geranium and mint. The rose here is less Queen of Flowers and more fresh princess as the green yet spicy aroma of rosebuds shows the dark, spicy side of the famous flower. The gorgeous and sparkling opening is swathed in bright mint leaf which seems to inspire the floral facets to thrive. The woodiness of the aldehyde top notes seem to embrace the emerging rose scent like protective thorns.

Talento Extrait de Parfum develops like a metaphor for the short, beautiful life-cycle of the royal rose. No sooner have the budding blossoms reached maturity than the heart note seems to leap towards a damp decadence. From this point a complex, soiled rose seems soapy-clean yet earthy, iridescent yet sombre, cool and standoffish – and all the more elegant for it. Geranium with its mildly herbal qualities opens the way for Talento Extrait de Parfum to show its aromatic side during dry down as patchouli, oakmoss and cedar coalesce into a base which is harmonious, stable and timeless.

Mendittorosa Talento Extrait de Parfum is a highly concentrated Extrait de Parfum from the Talismans range. At around 30% perfume extracts – it is one of the most luxurious forms of perfume. The sumptuous niche perfume takes its inspiration from the gardener who, upon discovering her roses seemed fragile and weak, planted mint in the same flower bed. The voracious mint soon surrounded the delicate roses. But instead of swallowing up the sophisticated blooms, it symbiotically encouraged them to thrive. Talento Extrait de Parfum is the talisman of talent. The talent for life. The talent, that if well protected can bloom undisturbed. This light of genius can flourish and flow within us all. As Ludwig Wittgenstein put it: ‘talent is a source always springing with new water’.

As part of the Mendittorosa Talismans Collection, Talento Extrait de Parfum is designed to be a piece of art. The bottle is high quality French cut glass. The cap features a beautiful, pale abstraction of a rose made by sculptor, Alessandro Reggioli. Its unique and distinctive veins come from a process called Raku: an earthenware technique originally developed in 16th century Japan to make porcelain for royal tea ceremonies. During the process clay is fired and glazed and then quickly fired again, leaving a blackened, distinctively variegated pattern. From the neck flows a soft Neopolitan tapestry tassel and the striking black and silver box keeps your Talento Extrait de Parfum safe and protected.
