Description
Jorum Studio Phloem Eau de Parfum is a bold and arresting scent – a joyous, syrupy sweet juice served with spiced-fruit compote and salty animalics. Phloem denotes the vessels running through plants which transport the sugary nutrients to the parts where needed. The aura of nourishing elixir is reflected in the perfume’s sweet-scented opening. A brief and playful candifloss punch hits the back of the nostrils with the reassuringly addictiveness of spun sugar.
The sucrose sweetness of photosynthesised plant sugars develops a sappy richness in the heart notes. A complex fruit profile oozes forth thanks to notes of thick and jammy stewed rhubarb. Sweetly-spiced wafts of sun kissed gorse bush hint at an airy floral wilderness. As the scent progresses the rounded pungency of dark ripe berries (mulberry, blueberry) suggests primal sensuality – linking the intimate juices of plants with saline bodily fluids. Bewitching, how quickly fleshy, glossy and fruity can turn tannic, leathery and astringent. As the sweetness recedes a spicy drydown features animalic skin tones clinging sexy and salty on the body.
Phloem is an assemblage of odourants that should oppose, but somehow attract. The entire composition is a balancing act of contradicting raw materials blended instinctually to create a shocking and diffusive bouquet. Sweet berry versus animalic musk, sugar water versus brine – this highly idiosyncratic niche perfume is a miasma of olfactory sin reflecting the life of a person who enjoys excess.
