Description
Jorum Studio Medullary-ray Eau de Parfum is an olfactory encounter between crafted wood and lazily harvested Tuscan fruits. The fragrance opens with a deep, dry aroma of tree trunk: medullary-ray is the name for the little radial lines which run perpendicular to the tree’s rings and deliver nutrients from the tree’s centre to the periphery. Masculine and hardy, the scent’s sturdy heart notes almost invoke the metallic rasp of the carpenter’s blade against ancient tree fibre. The aroma of fresh shavings and heartwood curls has the peppery spiciness of cedarwood and juniper. Imagine the warm hues of fresh pencil shavings.
The immediate pungency of the solid wood core is balanced by the nourishing fructose flow of balsamic resins and sweet red berries. Accompanying notes of dry botanicals and grasses such as papyrus and hay soften the rustic timbers. A hint of orris root and smoke appear during drydown.
Medullary-ray presents a floating balance of intimate tensions – hard meets soft, ethereal meets earthy. The handling of opposing materials links voluminous layers of musty wood with the life-giving flow of fruit and flower sap.
