Imaginary Authors Every Storm a Serenade Eau de Parfum is an aromatic marine fragrance inspired by the steely blue seas of the north. All Imaginary Authors fragrances are inspired by a fictional literary work and Every Storm a Serenade is a mysterious romance set amid the wild, windswept landscapes of Western Denmark.

The opening is awash with classic aquatic notes. The ozonic airiness of a salt-licked sea breeze meets the silver-grey wash of ocean waves. Yet, Every Storm a Serenade highlights the softer side of nature’s wildest elements. Just like the saltiness in maritime air brings out its sweetness, initial notes are briny but also unmistakably cleansing. Despite the rugged landscape Imaginary Authors Every Storm A Serenade connotes, it is a niche perfume that tells an intimate story with charm and delicacy – it is a romance, not a saga. As the ozonic gust of initial notes settles down, the scent hums with a polite sea breeze – cool but not bracing. Behind the steely grey facade there is rustic warmth.

Floating like flotsam and jetsam in the profound depth of the ocean, aromatic wood notes add an extra layer to the arrangement. Spruce and eucalyptus are beautifully balsamic and ambery sweet. What could be a tussle of sea and wood is in fact a delicate dance and the result is overwhelmingly smooth. Importantly, Every Storm a Serenade is not entirely a marine fragrance. The romantic aroma of water meeting with and seeping into land presents itself in claylike petrichor notes. The warm depth of ambergris and cool, earthy vetiver add a solid base to the windswept marine accord.

Synopsis: “When Stina, a burgeoning writer, decamps to her mother’s summer house for the winter to write a book, her trip overlaps for one day (and one steamy night) with a brawny fisherman named Ulv. While she struggles to gain traction with her novel, her fixation on the mysterious seafarer results in countless unsent letters, the contents of which chronicle the spiraling psyche of lust and longing. Set on the desolate west coast of Denmark during the tourist off-season, Every Storm a Serenade is a meditative masterwork that will lull you with its well-designed sentences and intimate tone.”
