Hima Jomo Summer in Paro Eau de Parfum is a woody amber scent that reflects the fragrances of the intense Bhutan sun. Often called the greenest and happiest country in the world, Bhutan provides the perfect backdrop for a scent teaming in summer joy. Dry heat dominates the top notes as the aromatic spice of Nepalese timur pepper warms the nostrils. The opening brings wafts of woody air as fir balsam transports us to the heart of a hidden forest.

Sun scorched trees glow with golden tears of resin – their scent imbued with the sweet ambrosial aroma of honey. This rich sap is matched in balsamic thickness by chewy benzoin and smoky labdanum. Hima Jomo Summer in Paro balances its dense side with weightless incense notes which hover headily in the air. Does a mountain monastery sit perched just beyond the tree canopy? Like transubstantiated tree bark, amyris floats dreamy, dry and musty in the high temperatures. Summer in Paro is a magical haze of a niche perfume that seems to prophesize a secret world – an evergreen paradise of warmth and contentment.

Paro, ‘The Castle on the Jewel’ in the local language, is located in the western part of the Kingdom of Bhutan. The Tiger’s Nest Monastery, built in 1692, sits on a 900-meter cliff face in the Paro Valley amid cascading forests of coniferous trees which cover the terrain like guardians and messengers. Here Buddhist monks burn incense which gently infuses the tearfilled oozing trunks of pine with its serene smoke.
