Description
Gallivant Bukhara Eau de Parfum is a woody-floral, spicy and earthy perfume composed around enigmatic orris – one of perfumery’s most prized (and expensive) raw materials.
This is a celebration of the beauty of mystery. Bukhara, a fairytale city on the Silk Road in Uzbekistan rises from desert earth like an oasis, its chalky white city walls and turquoise tiles suggest the intrigue of the unknown.
Bukhara’s opening is mildly spicy and fruity thanks to caraway, pear, coriander and bergamot. But what makes this niche perfume so attractively demure is the cool distance of orris, musky soft ambrette seed and a genius transparent silk accord. Like the majestic beauty of alabaster, Bukhara has an effortless charm. Alongside sophistication there is a sense of adventure – osmanthus and jasmine are a nod to the exotic places, while clove and apricot enrich the scent with colour and texture. A base of benzoin resin, saffron, amber, wood and cotton-soft musks recreate an oriental dreamscape.
Bukhara is the jewel in the crown of Central Asia, a magical place. A city of artisans, an architectural wonder, a beautiful and ancient crossroads and melting-pot. Historically, the Silk Road linked Europe and East Asia and was built on spices that served as condiments, dyes and bases for perfumes. Gallivant has succeeded in once again awarding Bukhara a central position in the story of perfume.
Bukhara was nominated for the Best Perfume Price at the 2021 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
