Description
Gallivant Abu Dhabi Eau de Parfum is a dry and spicy minimalist fougere perfume inspired by the intense Arabian heat. An oasis of a scent that captures both the sparsity of the desert and its miraculous moments of beauty. Amid the harshest of conditions, hot golden sand, dazzling bright light, formidable winds we see the simple raw majesty of nature. A dry and spicy woodiness arises like a mirage in the form of cypress and pink pepper. In the distant haze, hardy herbal notes of peppermint, rosemary and cardamom flicker like green hallucinations.
Gallivant Abu Dhabi is romance and adventure in the desert, but alongside the harshness of the terrain the heart is smooth-edged and highly comforting. Saffron, geranium and orris notes softly pulsate like the shaded air of a mashrabiya tinted in oriental spices and precious perfume. Patchouli in the base offers an earthy, cinnamon-tinged sweetness which delicately dusts the wood panelling effect of cedarwood. Abu Dhabi has a beautiful perfume minimalism. Like pristine white robes and a falconer’s leather gloves, the drydown’s memorable sillage hums with sumptuous leather notes and musks.
Hot, dry and balsamy sweet – Gallivant Abu Dhabi is the kind of niche perfume that can stand up to any heat, or recreate the loss thereof when the weather is damp and cold. Eastern luxury in perfume form, all year long.
When Gallivant creative director, Nick Steward envisaged Abu Dhabi he wanted to evoke an expedition across the dunes and give it a kind of sepia-tinged minimalism. There is most definitely a dose of nostalgia in this composition, a neo-vintage feeling. His goal was to capture an emotional echo of those era-defining perfumes from the late 80s and 90s such as Bel Ami and Fahrenheit, composed by the legendary Jean-Louis Sieuzac, father of the perfumer Lucas Sieuzac.
