Description
Gallagher Fragrances Behold, Patchouli Eau de Parfum is a magnified look at the wondrous perfume material that is patchouli! Found in some of the world’s favourite and most timeless perfumes, patchouli is actually a rather elusive material that defies easy classification. In and of itself can give off any number of different scents, sometimes chocolatey, sometimes earthy, sometimes citrusy. Patchouli is often essential in the base of perfumes and it’s patchouli that forms that resonant, lingering element on your skin the next morning!
What makes Behold, Patchouli so iconic is that it has taken all these facets and taken them to the next level. Behold, Patchouli opens with a bright mélange of orange citruses including bitter orange, blood orange, sweet orange, clementine and highly revered Tunisian neroli to celebrate patchouli’s fresh citric nuances. To embrace patchouli’s balsamic greenness, Gallagher has introduced a hint of sparkling Oman Frankincense, a cream soda accord, and rich, root-beer-like Benzoin.
Behold, Patchouli comes into its perfumed element when it shows off its chocolate-like nuances, represented by a powdery chocolate accord. Sweetness is normally not something the mind conjures up when thinking about patchouli, but here in these heady doses, a light yet enduring sweetness radiates from the honeyed amber and tonka bean notes – creating a fragrances which is resoundingly dense and indulgent. Rounding out the base, you’ll be swept away by buttery, premium Australian sandalwood and a regal, refined tonkin musk* accord. Of course, a fragrance named Behold, Patchouli would not be complete without some actual patchouli. The patchouli featured in Gallagher Fragrances Behold, Patchouli Eau de Toilette is 8-year aged Indonesian patchouli which comprises over 10% of the fragrance concentrate!
Fun facts: this is Gallagher Fragrances’ second most expensive formula to produce; second only to Wicked Good. The most expensive materials in Behold, Patchouli are actually those that play supporting roles in the composition, namely, the Tunisian neroli, Brazilian tonka bean absolute and the Australian sandalwood. True luxury lies in the beauty of subtle and complex layering.
