Filippo Sorcinelli Symphonie-Passion Extrait de Parfum is a bright and woody niche perfume with a fresh citrus start from the house’s UNUM line. A tribute to the rich and resinous musical tones of an ancient cathedral organ, the scent’s overall impression is of natural woods and aromatic balsams over a darker spiced cedar note – a piece of olfactive harmony. Far from the dry-incense tones of cloistered ecclesiastical interiors, the opening feels wet and fresh with bright citrus notes sparkling against the deeper woody musks. Notes of mildly terpenic tree sap from coniferous trees gives Symphonie-Passion an outdoorsy kind of woodiness. Emulating the sunlit bark of damp tree trunks, this is the ideal scent for those who like light and airy scents grounded in the healing power of nature. Heart notes develop an aromatic earthiness as wafts of vetiver feel diaphanous and uplifting. As the scent progresses, more intimate undertones of musks, balsamic sandalwood and spicy cedarwood take the scent profile indoors. A dryer, more polished, human-crafted type of wood becomes apparent. Linking the beauty of nature to the glory and artistry of man made symphonies.

Filippo Sorcinelli Symphonie-Passion Extrait de Parfum is inspired by the organ of Rouen Cathedral. Famously played by Rouen native and musical virtuoso Marcel Dupré, the organ is considered one of the most important in France. As a classically trained organist Sorcinelli himself had the opportunity to enjoy the deep, resinous tones of this massive instrument while performing in the northern French city. The organ’s aged scent and aromatic woodiness made such an impression on the perfumer, he simply needed to capture it in this magical niche perfume.

Filippo Sorcinelli Symphonie-Passion Extrait de Parfum is a bright, woody scent in Sorcinelli’s mysterious world of perfumes which features ancient gothic gloom united with cutting edge modernity in one darkly immersive aesthetic. Sorcinelli is not only one of the world’s most revered niche perfumers and a talented organist, his bespoke tailoring atelier ‘LAVS’ makes the intricate, elaborately designed robes for the Vatican. His wide ranging artistic talents and classical Italian reference points are reflected in his avant-garde bottle designs and the ritualistic and liturgical themes which infuse many of his works.
