Moderata is part of Sorcinelli’s Pioggia collection, inspired by our emotional responses to varying forms of rain. Moderata is moderate rain, the kind that forms reflective puddles on sidewalks. Moderata is also a scent that speaks of inner reflection. It’s a scent where solitude and nostalgia go hand in hand with wandering the city’s sidestreets.

Top notes of smoky labdanum form an opening which is harsh and dense. A deft blend of spices and moss recreates the effects of asphalt, concrete and stone while a sense of urban petrichor is achieved through the expert unison of in-house aquatic and earth notes. In Moderata, fragrant facets elbow each other, reflecting the complex, fragmented layers of elements within the metropolis vying for our attention. Moderata is woody, dirty and ancient, yet it shows a softer underbelly, allowing you to fall in love with its raw beauty. The dry down features smooth woods, patchouli and tonka bean – a base to find a home in.

The story of Moderata began with Filippo’s love for the grey streets of Milan in the rain. It’s a love letter to losing oneself amid drizzly steel and concrete accompanied by the manmade smells of rubber and smoke, which curl the city’s hard-edged lines into an anonymous embrace.
