Description
Filippo Sorcinelli HÆC DIES Extrait de Parfum is a fragrant balm for the soul soaked in aloe vera and anointed in holy myrrh set atop a vanilla musk base: as soft as whipped cream. Meaning ‘this day’ in Latin, HAEC DIES celebrates the light after darkness and the delicate peace of rebirth. Cool and glossy aloe vera in the perfume’s opening slicks the senses with the protective tranquillity of a resting place. A clean and classic curtain of citruses dissolves revealing notes of pale, porcelain myrrh. Solemn, soulful, meditative, HÆC DIES is a scent that assuages life’s hard edges and offers a chance to return to one’s true self with every spray. Central to this sensual experience is a voluptuously custardy vanilla note – white as a shroud and an all-enveloping embrace. The floral heart seems to radiate from within thanks to notes of peach and rose dipped in cream. Filippo Sorcinelli HAEC DIES is pure and beautiful – offering us the chance to absolve ourselves of our sins.
The third fragrance from Filippo Sorcinelli’s Delire de Voyage collection (previously Epicentro and Notre Dame) is unveiled right on the heels of Easter events. In HÆC DIES Filippo Sorcinelli offers an olfactive interpretation of some passages from Mark’s Gospel. Depicting the women’s astonishment and fear when they realize that the stone of the sepulchre has rolled away. The perfume’s bottle is a representation of the one used to house the aloe and myrrh brought to anoint Jesus’ body – dropped to the ground out of wonder at this miracle.
The bottle and presentation also recreate the scene of the stone rolled away and the linen cloths that wrapped the figure of a young man dressed in blazing white: The bottle along with the four ‘wings’ surrounding it are covered with sand to remind us of the steps taken to this place. HÆC DIES Extrait de Parfum’s centrepiece is the cap that mimics the stylistic features of the tombstone that has rolled away. The artwork is covered entirely in a white linen veil, on which the name of the fragrance is reproduced, HAEC DIES. Cloaking all in a sense of spiritual sanctity, the outside of the packaging is covered in the same linen.
It seems to have stitched the end.
Everything seemed to have happened quickly.
There was chest thumping, everyone condemned,
of running closed a chapter.
Yet fear and awe are describing the unexpected,
A precious bottle falls into a thousand pieces,
It releases its aroma and speaks in silence.
Yet we knew it.
Death is not the last word.
The stone rolled away, and with it
Turns my life upside down every day,
It anoints my now sandy skin
so that I can soil that linen
with my inaccuracies.
The now useless ointment frames an empty place.
Rich.
This is the wonder,
THIS DAY – HÆC DIES
