Description
Anatole Lebreton Racine Carrée Eau de Parfum is a woody aromatic niche perfume which pulsates with the powdery glow of hidden passions. Named after the French word for ‘square root’, Racine Carrée is more accurately an exploration of roots squared; that is roots, both of the subterranean kind and those of our past.
Physical roots are apparent right from the perfume opening thanks to a classic powdery Lebreton arrangement, which glistens at the top. Darkly numbing liquorice is waxed in moonlit orris root, while the cool, rooty caress of carrot continues the unassuming groundedness. Earthy green cypriol and rough-edged Haitian vetiver form a solid centrepoint in Racine Carrée, onto which all the rooty mystery anchors. Deep verdant clary sage and a touch of fresh celery seed round out the aromatic profile.
Roots in their less tangible form reveal themselves in Racine Carée like ghostly shadows.
As if reconnecting us to the comforting beauty of a childhood lullaby, the perfume stimulates the source of our subconscious. By engaging with earthy and grounded ingredients we ask the buried and forgotten to resurface. Powdery, dreamlike orris vibes not only feel vintage but are heavily rooted in Lebreton’s own olfactive DNA. Fundamentally Racine Carée Eau de Parfum is a subtle, sensual contemplation of things, both physical and emotional, that hide just under the surface.
Notes: orris root, cypriol, liquorice, carrot, Haitian vetiver, chamomilla, celery seed and clary sage
