Description
Anatole Lebreton L’Eau Scandaleuse Eau de Parfum is a floral chypre perfume featuring a flirtatious duet of tuberose and leather. This niche fragrance’s opening is sensually provocative as the indolic floral facets of tuberose radiate a rich, rubbery opulence. The intensity of tuberose is quickly tempered by powdery undertones which feel smooth and refined. Add to the mix the herb tinged depth of davana, and the carnal floral bomb of the opening transgresses into the murky, gender fluid territory of oriental woods.
L’Eau Scandeleuse is a tryst between male and female – the scandalously over-the-top opening meets its match in the leathery masculinity of the heart with synthetic castoreum turning things dark, sultry and smokey. This intoxicating union infuses the mossy carpet of a base with a refined muskiness which makes more than a passing nod to the decadence of vintage chypre perfumery. Juicy peach and voluptuous ylang-ylang bleed out from under the gently animalic leather notes – highlighting the interplay between seductively exotic blossoms and decadently fleshy bodies.
There reigns in L’Eau Scandaleuse a sense of freedom which seems to hark back to a time before regulations over-sanitized fun. L’Eau Scandaleuse has a playfully seedy side which would feel right at home in the legendary nightlife of bohemian Montmartre with its can-can dancers in the moulin rouge and the absinthe fuelled reveries of its artists and poets. L’Eau Scandelauese is a complex fragrance – shimmering between man and woman, lightness and darkness, demureness and out-and-out debauchery.
