Anatole Lebreton Fleur Cachée is an exquisitely rendered gourmand vanilla perfume. This comforting, caramel tinged fragrance is an homage to the exotic and highly coveted spices which fuelled the age of discovery. The first port of call is Nepal with the piquant kick of timut pepper humming in citrus heat. Staying vaguely in South Asia, the golden hues of turmeric offer delicate earthiness. With its glowing hay and honey tones, fenugreek from India emulates the rounded depth of maple syrup – the effect is darkly resonant and utterly moreish.

Fleur Cachée seems to circumnavigate the globe in search of sweet scented bounty, but it is with vanilla – the spice so beloved by peoples of pre-Columbian Mexico – that the niche perfume finds its olfactory eldorado. The oriental spiced opening smoothens into a fabulously complex rendering of vanilla in the heart which will entrance fans of luxury gourmand perfumes. The vanilla note is made more sumptuous thanks to a decadent coffee facet – adding an indulgent thick treacle aroma with a hint of deep, dark liquorice. Fleur Cachée is never cloyingly sweet, as Anatole Lebreton delicately foregrounds vanilla’s natural lactonic sweetness, while the artful addition of a powdery iris tone keeps things bright and bouncy.

There is an element of grown up sophistication to Fleur Cachée. Its unique presentation of vanilla has the elegance of an aged alcohol. As the scent develops, the vanilla smoothness gains in complexity. During drydown, Fleur Cachée continues its whistle stop tour of the earth as Peru balsam and New Caledonian sandalwood coalesce to form a creamy gourmand base. The mild astringency of Texas cedarwood acts as a palette cleanser to the scent’s tantalizing richness. Meaning ‘hidden flower’ in French, Fleur Cachée is a scent waiting to be discovered. By uniting a selection of luxury perfume materials sourced from throughout the world, this luxurious niche fragrance is a modern day testimony to the lengths humans have gone to feed their insatiable desires.

Fleur Cachée Eau de Parfum is vegan. No animalic raw materials are used.
