Aedes De Venustas Palissandre D’Or (Eau de Parfum) is a symphony of fine-grained, polished woods perfected into a sumptuous perfume. It sheds new light on the ancient scent of precious woods, moving through a smouldering palette of burnt sienna, lacquered red and molten gold.

The idea of Aedes De Venustas Palissandre D’Or comes from rosewood, also known as Dalbergia sissoo, historically the most important rose tree in Northern India. Another type of rose tree, the palisander, which exudes the scent of complex carvings and tranquil Asian groves, provided the inspiration. “I can’t make scents that are too abstract,” explains perfumer Alberto Morillas. “For me, a perfume is a melody.”

Aedes De Venustas Palissandre D’Or has a milky sheen, a luminous woody perfume so polished it practically turns to silk. Abstract yet very concrete, Palissandre D’Or expresses the quintessence of Alberto Morillas’ style, which the master defines in three words: “Fluidity, transparency and power.”

In this dazzling perfume, crystal-clear ambrette, a natural musk (with vibrations of rose, pear and iris), is enriched by the scent of cool spices such as rose pepper, coriander and nutmeg. As the intense heat of the cinnamon warms, the fragrance opens its heart to reveal its most precious secret: a rare sandalwood extract from Sri Lanka. Delicately smoky, rosy and creamy, the milky warmth of copahu balm and silky patchouli extract makes it even more luscious. The suggestive fusion of ambroxan, warm, clean bark and sun-kissed skin creates a subtle illusion.

A bold trio of cedar essences lends structure and texture to this luminous perfume. Pure, powerful Virginia cedar adds power and pace. Chinese cedar pulses with the delicacy of Lapsang Souchong tea, and Alaskan cedar with the smokiness of Russian leather. A majestic and mystical fragrance, yet very wearable and guaranteed to resonate differently on different skins.
