Aedes De Venustas 16a Orchard (Eau de Parfum) is a vibrantly effervescent gingery perfume on a soft amber and musk base. A fragrance that reminds us of our beginnings, of the roots of our existence through the fragrance notes. 16a Orchard is an address in New York City’s Lower East Side, where Aedes De Venustas moved in 2021, and the fragrance pulses with the excitement of a new beginning in every sense.

Aedes De Venustas 16 Orchard invites you to a vibrant neighbourhood that attracts a hip and diverse crowd, where galleries, skateboarders, cafes and small, exclusive shops bring an exciting buzz to the streets. For the founders of Aedes De Venustas, Robert Gerstner and Karl Bradl, the place took on an even deeper meaning in 2021. “Every single soul went through a huge change in their lives at that time,” says Gerstner. “During that time we were able to grow roots here, in this area. Unknowingly, we created something that became very important”.

Aedes De Venustas 16a Orchard is not just a fragrance, it’s a feeling. Something that we nurture and that then evolves. “My goal was to create a sense of spiritual well-being through a simple fragrance structure,” says perfumer Frank Voelkl. “Using ingredients extracted from natural roots such as ginger and iris brings us back to earth, making us feel balanced.” Rather than being a single fragrance note or category of scent, 16a Orchard presents itself as a bit of a mystery. “You don’t immediately know what to do with it, and that’s what makes it exciting,” says Gerstner. “You can’t get a grip on it. That’s the whole point of the Lower East Side. It teaches you to think (and live!) differently than you’re used to.”
