Description
Aedes De Venustas Café Tabac (Eau de Parfum) is a hedonistic perfume in which warm spices and smoke flirt with flowers. It takes its inspiration from New York’s iconic East Village bar, Cafe Tabac, where in the 90s Kate met Johnny, Madonna answered the phone and Leo picked up supermodels. It was the place where celebrities could truly be free. A self-conscious, pre-cellphone era that seems so far away we long to go back again.
Aedes De Venustas Café Tabac was created by master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour: “It’s a place with a deep atmosphere that creates its own legend,” says Bertrand. “The deep blue smoke of cigarettes, cigars, grass … or anything else.”
Aedes De Venustas Café Tabac is dazzling, sexy and complex, like the journey that has brought its concept to its final conclusion: the perfume opens with effervescent notes of bergamot, apple and tamarind fruit, while paying homage to the many forms of tobacco. The dry leaves, the damp scent of flowers and the lit cigar flare up thanks to the herbal clary sage and davana. Subtle hints of mango blend with dried figs and dates, along with the complex smokiness of tobacco absolute, tar, cade and cedarwood.
The labdanum resin gives way to sweet amber, oakmoss, vanilla, cocoa accord and Peru balsam in the perfume’s heart, giving way to a dark, rich and resinous base. The distinctive scent of burnt sugar is infused with the vapour of fresh clove and cardamom, giving Café Tabac a wonderful multi-layered complexity.
Aedes De Venustas Café Tabac has a crazy sensuality. Wearing it is about maintaining a state of heightened emotion that you remember before you even record it.
