Description
Aedes De Venustas Cierge De Lune (Eau de Parfum) captures the raw, enchantingly mysterious scent of the dark side of vanilla. The cactus, which blooms for just one night a year, is also known as the Queen of the Night, its fragrance is cool and pure like the moonlit desert air.
The French call it ‘cierge de lune’, or ‘candle of the moon’, a literal translation of the Latin Selenicereus grandiflorus. Its magnificent flower only opens after dark and fades by sunrise, which is why it is said that Marie Antoinette called the botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté at midnight to capture the strikingly fleeting beauty of this New World cactus species.
Aedes De Venustas Cierge De Lune runs a very exciting olfactive gamut: from crystalline high notes to the deep, nocturnal purr of spicy vanilla, spiced with incense smoke. The highest quality Madagascar vanilla absolute is as faithful as possible to the natural ingredient. Woodier and deeper than its Tahitian counterpart, it reveals the darker side of vanilla with a hint of velour leather at the heart of the perfume. The airy waft of hedione transforms the vanilla pod into a cactus flower, whose pristine petals are enriched by ylang-ylang.
In Aedes De Venustas Cierge De Lune vibrancy and brightness are shot by shimmering rose pepper as a spark of moonlight in a velvety blend. Black pepper runs an exciting thread from mineral, incense-like effects to resinous, smoky, dark chocolate notes. In a final metamorphosis, a musky ambroxan underpinned by a soft velour leather accord transforms the night flower into a second skin.
Aedes De Venustas Cierge De Lune invites you on an olfactive journey into the depths of the desert to reinterpret a rare, utterly divine flower for the skin.
