One Day Perfumes Taipei (Eau de Parfum) has been nominated for the Best Perfume Prize at the Art and Olfaction Awards in 2024 in Los Angeles.

One Day Perfumes Taipei with the scent of ground soy, steamed sticky rice and taro as it wafts through the narrow alleyways and night markets of Taiwan’s capital city. Grains and fragrant roots as perfume with fresh nuances.

One Day Perfumes Taipei has a round, simple and dense aroma of filtered and cooked soybeans, steamed rice and taro with herbs, a hint of sweetness and incense floating slowly in the air. The scent permeates not only the streets but also the buildings: cement and wood, old houses and buildings, seeping through narrow alleyways and into doorways, kitchens and windows.

The smell of rice not only lingers between the beams, but also weaves its way into the surrounding landscape. Old churches and streets, people and sounds. From gardens to the cool silence of buildings. Through the flow of time and people, One Day Taipei becomes a warm perfume on the skin.

In our globalised world how do we capture the essence of place? One Day perfumes focuses on a number of the world’s most interconnected locations, the kind of ubiquitously present places that feature on airport destination screens, time zone clocks and brand flagship store lists. The Ethos of Cities Limited Series aims to embody these globalised spaces in a personal way, thereby reclaiming a sense of specificity from the homogenised experiences of globalisation.

One Day, the Hong Kong based niche perfume house invites us to closely contemplate on a number of international cities with contemporary resonance. London, Seoul, Amsterdam, Berlin, Kyoto (as well as the country Thailand) have been translated into perfume form as part of an installation entitled A Nice Place to Smell in a Hong Kong gallery. This luxury, limited series is the antithesis of our post covid return to frenetic globetrotting.
