Description
Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello Eau de Parfum is a green, citrussy and woody fragrance featuring a refreshing overdose of aromatic violet leaf. A perfect spring/summer perfume, O’Hello makes for a great conversation-starter. “Oh……..hello.”
Initial notes greet us with a wash of citrusses such as bergamot, bitter orange (bigarade) and green mandarin accompanied by aromatic notes of fresh basil and ginger. The everpresent violet leaf brings its bittersweet profusion from the opening into the floral heart, where it offers dark green contrast to the bright notes of orange blossom, jasmine and ylang ylang.
The perfume’s base is a calmer form of cool thanks to the use of orris root and a special Gallagher Fragrances ‘velvetwood’ accord. Daniel Gallagher has named it such due to its unique arrangement of ambroxan, iso e super and sandalwood to create a base note that is as much a texture as a scent.
Gallagher Fragrances O’Hello may announce itself easily to the wearer thanks to its bright and breezy refreshment. But just trying to describe it highlights its wonderfully complex construction. It does not fit perfectly into any core olfactory genre, but instead straddles genres such as citrus aromatic, aromatic green, fougère, and woody floral musk. A sparkling green statement for the experienced niche perfume fan!
Fun Fact: violet leaf absolute is very dark green in colour and comes in a concrete format, meaning it requires heating before use. A little goes a long way, but as with most Gallagher Fragrances creations, the formula leans towards an overdose of the chosen ingredient. At 3.896% of the entire formula, O’Hello is no exception. This may not sound like a lot, but it certainly is. Violet leaf absolute is one of the more expensive and labour-intensive perfumery ingredients as it requires 2,300 kilograms of violet leaves to produce 1 kilogram of absolute!
Notes: sweet basil, bigarade, bergamot, green mandarin, ginger, neroli, violet leaf, orange blossom, jasmine, ylang ylang, tuberose, orris butter, velvetwood accord, oakmoss, patchouli, musk
