Renier Perfumes Ris Tanama Extrait de Parfum is a woody floral fragrance with a fresh tropical start, inspired by a Caribbean princess. Meaning ‘red butterfly’ in the ancient Taino language of Cuba, Ris Tanama recreates a butterfly’s fluttering levity, while the overall effect of floral floatiness is enhanced by the peppery pollan notes of freshly cut flowers. Ris Tanama begins its flight with the tender cherry contrastingly acidified with an exceptional natural lime, while orange blossom, decorated with traces of jasmine conjures white floral substance out of air.

The opening captures something of the dreamy, steamy interior of a florist – albeit a flower shop somewhere in the tropical Caribbean. This is an atmospheric headspace where the scent of oozing stems releases a floral spirit – the scent of a princess who has escaped her abductors and flies like a butterfly back to freedom.

Alongside the quivering top notes, one senses the unmistakable presence of 5-year aged Cambodian oud. Here, however, the oud does not add unnecessary weight to the symphony itself, but simply depth and space. The base notes of the composition are designed for lovers of sandalwood and authentic oud, both of which combine nicely with rosewood and rose – bringing seduction to the fragrance. A musky base paired with excellent quality amber and vanilla keep the blend buoyant and protect the lifelike vigour of the niche perfume. Ris Tanama is a masterpiece of how to create a fresh oud fragrance. Delicate and robust at the same time, it flies in the wind with joy and success towards free will.
