House of Matriarch Black No 1 Eau de Parfum is a beautiful unisex leather fragrance for those who want to lose themselves in a perfumed dream. The importance of leather in perfumery can be traced right back to the very origins of perfumery. Leather is strong, sensual, dark. Ancient ingredients like birch tar, civet, ambergris and musk are among the classic raw ingredients brought together to mask leather’s tannic intensity.

This tradition continues in Black No 1, whereby House of Matriarch has compiled its unique fantasy accord from more than 300 exotic natural essences, capturing this complex aroma in perfume. There is a lot going on in House Of Matriarch  Black No 1, yet this is a scent without a fragrance pyramid in the classic sense. Instead it is one big tincture with a living spirit of its own. A potion of vibrating resonance in which wafts of smoke weave in and out of an infinitely smouldering fire. Intoxicating splashes of booze fan the flames and a masculine woodiness sustains a warm, amber glow.

The highly natural niche perfume derives its black colour from the ashen, earthen darkness of the raw ingredients. Fire and shadow coexist in Black No 1 saturating it with the dreamy quality of losing yourself in the beautiful abyss of leather captured in scent.

House of Matriarch Black No 1 is 97.5% natural.

A living work of liquid art, House Of Matriarch’s first cult classic was launched as ‘Blackbird’ in 2012. Named as the ‘Top Men’s Fragrance’ by Men’s Journal Magazine and ‘Best of the West’ by Sunset Magazine.

Black No 1 has evolved in identity while retaining its essential magnificence. Only the name of this fragrance has changed, the formulation is exactly the same. Standing the test of time as it improves in the bottle, comparison of the two available vintages draws the fragrance aficionado into epicurean territory,  illustrating the core philosophy of high perfumery.
