Description
Filippo Sorcinelli Scusami Extrait de Parfum is a joyful floral-fruit bomb from the niche perfume house’s UNUM line. Despite the misleading name (Scusami means ‘I’m sorry’ in Italian), this is an unapologetically life-affirming fragrance thanks to an opening which teems with juicy fruit notes and clean flowers. Mirabelle plum is wonderfully tart and sweet while citrus notes of lemon, bergamot and grapefruit are sunny and refreshing. An almost edible sweetness is provided by wonderful, vanilla-toned heliotrope. Scusami’s heart has the overall effect of blended, sheer florals. The masterful effect of a combination of freesia, rose, ylang ylang and lily of the valley ensures a joyfully rich floral effusion. The perfume revolves around a deliciously ripe and glossy fruit note which is attributable to cassis with its rich, jammy tones. The scent’s classical base is a full-bodied, amber-toned affair featuring cedar wood, musk mallow and patchouli. The drydown, however, is given a slight twist as creamy sandalwood and intensely fruity musks give the drydown a juicy reboost. The result is a longevity and vitality of scent which continues to ooze life for hours after applying.
Filippo Sorcinelli Scusami Extrait de Parfum has nothing to be sorry about. In a world divided up and torn apart by difference, Scusami is a scent of forgiveness which can heal wounds and herald a new age of joy. Plump, ripe fruits and billowing blossoms conjoin to create a niche perfume which is a long-lasting, vibrantly perfumed elixir. Scusami’s striking design feels atavistic: like prehistoric art meets space age design. The murky purple bottle and distressed wood cap are marked by deep scratches and gashes revealing a body that may bear the scars of the past but is not afraid to let its sweet, life-giving juices gush forth into the world.
Filippo Sorcinelli Scusami Extrait de Parfum is a fruity-floral scent in Sorcinelli’s mysterious world of perfumes which features ancient gothic gloom united with cutting edge modernity in one darkly immersive aesthetic. Sorcinelli is not only one of the world’s most revered niche perfumers and a talented organist, his bespoke tailoring atelier ‘LAVS’ makes the intricate, elaborately designed robes for the Vatican. His wide ranging artistic talents and classical Italian reference points are reflected in his avant-garde bottle designs and the ritualistic and liturgical themes which infuse many of his works.
