Description
Bogue Profumo MEM Eau de Parfum is an utterly surprising reinterpretation of lavender, pushing the boundaries of the most familiar of florals. Far from grandma’s calming wardrobe sachet, this niche perfume is a carnivalesque bouquet of citrus, anise-tinged herbs, debased blossoms, metallic aldehydes and animalics atop a benzoin resin base. Modern, mercurial and deconstructivist, the lavender in MEM has never strayed further from its comfort zone thanks to a potent and ever present animalic strain – adding voluptuous texture and a mildly dirty depth. The blue herb’s clean-cut image is further sullied by a decadent floral heart of ylang-ylang and champaca, a fermented malt note and a hint of fleshy, over-ripe apricot. The drydown reveals an expansive base of vanilla-sweet resins, woods and musks. A herbaceous, honeyed licorice note drifts across chewy benzoin and melds with the equally dark odour of civet and castoreum. A comforting transition to rosewood, sandalwood and Himalayan cedar envelopes the skin in a subtle, woody warmth.
Equal parts shocking and rewarding, Bogue Profumo MEM Eau de Parfum is a wondrously earthy-sweet, herbal-spiced, burnt-rubber, metallic-tinged olfactory voyage. There may well be a lavender field in an alternate universe wafting this rich, complex and multifaceted scent – but MEM is quite unlike anything you have smelled this side of pluto. A groundbreaking masterpiece for true niche perfume lovers, MEM establishes an olfactory language which is constantly on the move, managing to be both conceptual and vintage at the same time. The various high quality ingredients, including 5 different facets of lavender, are masterfully balanced by perfume innovator Antonio Gardoni giving the scent a riveting, shape-shifting quality. To wear MEM is to never wear the same scent twice.
