Description
Papillon Artisan Perfumes Tobacco Rose Eau de Parfum is a sumptuous, modern take on a rose chypre perfume – slowly mellowing into velvety notes of beeswax and ambergris. Unlike the ‘pretty but old-fashioned’ stereotype of a rose anthropomorphised throughout literature and poetry, the rose here is sodden, sultry and seductive. The niche perfume opens with an altogether darker rose – slightly sullied by a good night out, emerging bleary-eyed, but dignity intact, from a leather upholstered cocktail bar. Liz Moores, the master perfumer behind this distinguished scent, uses two different types of rose absolute; Bulgarian rose and Rose Maroc (also known as Rose de Mai) to achieve a rich, textured floral arrangement.
Papillon Artisan Perfumes Tobacco Rose combines the scent of overblown roses with the grounding embrace of honey and hay notes. The fragrance rejects classic prettiness and instead combines the seemingly opposing masculine and feminine elements that so often fuse within nature. Here you breath in not only the pristine petals but the rich earth from which a rose grows. During drydown the scent reveals its earthen layers thanks to the soiled sweetness of ambergris and woody, musky oakmoss. The delicate tobacco accord contains no tobacco and is instead created using hay absolute, benzoin and a selection of other secret materials. Tobacco Rose is the epitome of a subtly confident, unisex scent for those who enjoy living in that sweet cusp, where elegance tips over into decadence.
All Papillon Artisan Perfumes are genderless and androgynous, to be worn by anyone who enjoys them. All Papillon perfumes are cruelty free and are not tested on animals.
