Senyokô Migration de L’Arbre Eau de Parfum is a floral-herbaceous fragrance with balsamy wood accords. This otherworldly scent is Inspired by a 1930s short story by Nankichi Niimi, which explores the intricate friendship between a certain bird and a certain tree. After discovering that her favourite tree has been reduced to a stump to make matches for a lantern, the bird sings to the lantern’s flame and endeavors to keep it burning. Encouraged by this action, the stump starts to sprout new shoots and eventually produces enough saplings to form a new forest. Bird and tree reunite until one day the bird passes away happy in the tree’s arms.

Just like this heartbreakingly sweet story, the niche perfume displays moments of kaleidoscopic beauty and radiance: chlorophyll green leaves muddle amongst plumes of iridescent animalic notes. Senyokô Migration de L’Arbre contemplates the relationship between botanical and animalic elements, as well as connection between floral brightness, the earthy depth of wood and dashes of fruit. The fragrance profile features a multifaceted reconstruction of a green forest with notes of cedarwood, oak, and fir balsam. Wood tones remain present throughout the entire development of the fragrance, akin to the tree in the story with its invisible spirit which spreads throughout the valley.

The scent cleverly displays the interlinking of elements: herbal top notes of clary sage transition into sensual osmanthus, which in turn folds under tobacco leaves as they gently ebb towards and segue into the sweet muskiness of molecular ambergris. Contemporary synthetic ambergris alternatives are extracted from a natural compound found in clary sage – the fragrance’s initial top note. This fluctuating cycle – draped in the omnipresent veil of woods – gives this enchanting fragrance a beautiful circular narrative befitting the symbiotic story of the bird and the tree.

This fairytale fragrance was created by breakthrough nose in the niche perfume world, Euan McCall.

Top notes: clary sage absolute, juniper absolute, cedrat, grapefruit, and yuzu

Heart notes: elemi, mastic, guaiac, magnolia, osmanthus, pomegranate, and nigella damascena absolute

Base notes: ambergris, tobacco absolute, seaweed absolute, vetiver, cabreuva, patchouli, fir balsam, cedar, oakwood, and deertongue grass
